Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas expected the U.N. Security Council to complete discussions pertaining to the Palestinian membership bid in weeks, not months. “I will launch a dialogue with the Hamas Movement on the cabinet, the reconciliation and general Palestinian issues”, Abbas told “Al-Hayat” newspaper.

“I refuse any delay or procrastination at the Security Council”, he said adding that he expects the council to make a decision at the right time through official and technical measures.

“I will study all the possibilities”, Abbas said, adding that he appreciates the initiative of French President Nicolas Sarkozy. “The official answer will be given when I go back to Palestine and present my case in detail”.
