REPORT: Damascus spiritual summit calls for solution ensuring Syrian people’s "right to determine their fate"
The Christian spiritual summit held in the Syrian capital Damascus called Monday for providing support to the Christian Church as the region continues to witness violence and aggression, in order to preserve its existence.
 
The summit stressed the need to remain committed to the unity of Syria, calling for a solution that ensures the Syrian people’s right to "determine their fate."
 
Concerning the situation in Lebanon, the summit urged for the election of a new president in order to restore the work of the constitutional institutions.
 
Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai traveled to Syria on Sunday in order to take part in the spiritual summit.
