Macron calls for creation of a European political organization to include Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron called on Monday for the creation of a "European political organization" to include Ukraine in particular, in parallel with the mechanism of accession to the European Union, which could take "decades".

Macron assured the European Parliament in his first speech on Europe since his re-election as France's president that he was also "in favor" of the EU "treaty review", a proposal put forward by the European Parliament in order to gain institutional effectiveness in times of peace as well as in times of crisis.
