Russia says upcoming agreement with Iran to include closer defense cooperation

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced on Thursday that the upcoming treaty between Russia and Iran will include closer defense cooperation.

Both countries have stated they are close to signing the agreement. 

In September, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian pledged to strengthen relations with Russia to counter Western sanctions.
