Spring is here, and while that usually means warmer temperatures, longer days and colorful blossoms, it also means insects, lots and lots of insects.
And while there are all sorts of products out there that promise to rid your home of creepy crawlies, they aren’t all that good or healthy for your home and family.
So here are natural ways to help you keep spiders out NATURALLY.
Vinegar
White vinegar is an excellent insect repellant and it’s cheap and natural too! Mix some white vinegar with water in a spray bottle and spray some of that good stuff over and around your windows, doors and corners.
Citrus
Spiders and insects in general hate all things citrusy, so next time you squeeze lemons keep the peel and rub it all over corners where you know insects can take up home. Lemon scented detergent also helps keep creepy crawlies at bay.
Cedar
Whether its cedar scented essential oil, cedar furniture, cedar coat hangers or a live cedar tree outside your home, all these special things will keep spiders and insects away. Our recommendation? Grow trees! After all we are home to the Cedars!
Chestnuts
Place a few chestnuts at your windowsills and or rub some around the corner of your doors. Amazingly, chestnuts have a great ability to repel insects!
Tobacco
Sounds odd, but it works. Spiders and other creepy crawlies hate the smell of tobacco as much as they hate all the aforementioned scents. So either sprinkle some tobacco in the corners of your home, or place some in a water spray bottle, let sit for a while and then spray the tobacco scented water. It works wonders to keep bugs away!
Happy spring cleaning!
