REPORT: Officials investigate the escape of Abdallah Ahmad al-Hcheimeh from Roumieh

At a time when wardens at the Roumieh penitentiary were busy preparing for the arrival of Caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel for an inspection visit, prisoner Abdallah Ahmad al-Hcheimeh took benefit of the time to arrange means of his escape.

Sources told LBCI that preliminary investigations showed that al-Hcheimeh escaped the prison on Monday morning in one of the catering vehicles, pointing out that the catering truck was not under full supervision.

His pursuit came to an end after the Internal Security Forces’ Drug Control Office found, and consequently rearrested al-Hcheimeh in Zahle’s el-Kerk region on Tuesday afternoon.

This report will shed light on the profile of prisoner Abdallah Ahmad al-Hcheimeh as well as the results of the preliminary investigations into his escape that led to his capture.
