REPORT: Patriarch Rai calls on Lebanese leaders to have loyalty for their country

Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rahi urged on Sunday Lebanese officials to have loyalty to their country by putting an end to its crises, as well as the sectarian chaos.

In his sermon during Sunday mass held in Bkerke, Patriarch Rai called on Lebanese people to respect the Lebanese state and to be loyal to it.

He also noted that the concerned authorities must deploy all possible efforts to solve the country's political, economic and security crises and abiding by the self dissociation policy pertaining to the regional conflicts according to the National Pact and the Baabda Declaration.

Patriarch Rai voiced his regrets at the death of Lebanese nationals in the boat accident in Indonesia, blaming the Lebanese state's negligence for their death.

More than 30 people were still missing two days after a boat carrying asylum seekers to Australia sank off the Indonesian coast, killing 22 people including seven children, Indonesian security officials said on Sunday.

The illegal immigrants were from four countries Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Yemen.
