REPORT: Sources to LBCI: Hermel's suicide bomber blew himself up upon arrival to gas station

Sources told LBCI on Sunday that the bomb used in the Hermel explosion was made up of rockets and hand grenades weighing between 20 and 25 kilograms, noting that the suicide bomber blew himself up upon his arrival to al-Aytam gas station in Hermel.

"The suicide bomber did not ask to buy fuel before detonating the bomb," the sources added.

On Saturday the 1st of February, an explosion took place at a gas station near al-Mabarrat school at the entrance of the Hermel town, the state-run National News Agency reported.

The agency cited witnesses who said the explosion was carried out by a suicide bomber who entered the gas station, leaving a metre-deep hole in the ground and setting the station and nearby cars on fire.

Caretaker Minister of Health Ali Hassan Khalil said that 3 persons were killed and 28 others were injured in the explosion.

Al-Nusra Front in Lebanon claimed responsibility for the attack.
