REPORT: Bou Saab calls on donors in Washington to rehabilitate Lebanese schools

Education Minister Elias Bou Saab stressed on Saturday that Lebanon is among the first countries affected by the Syrian displacement, calling on the International Community to take action in order to support Lebanon in dealing with this crisis, which now exceeds its human and financial capabilities.

On the sidelines of the meeting organized by the World Bank in Washington for donor countries and international organizations involved in supporting Lebanon and assisting it to ease the burden of the displaced from Syria, Bou Saab exposed the difficulties witnessed by the educational sector in Lebanon, displaying statistics and numbers in this regard.

Accordingly, the minister presented a “plan to save the sector through this international contribution that aims at rehabilitating the Lebanese schools and giving the Lebanese youth further educational motives.”

Bou Saab stressed that the main beneficiary from this contribution must be the Lebanese citizen, "since he is the only one bearing the burden of this crisis and its repercussions".
