REPORT: Wary calm prevails in the northern city of Tripoli
Wary calm prevailed on Sunday in the northern city of Tripoli with sporadic gunshots targeting the Lebanese Armed Forces stations.

On Saturday, armed men tossed a hand grenade on a Lebanese army checkpoint near the city's Nasserite Mosque, injuring one LAF soldier.

The Lebanese army responded to the source of fire.

Clashes also took place in Bab al-Tebanneh neighborhood, al-Qobbeh region and Abou Ali roundabout between LAF members and armed men.

Tripoli had witnessed several rounds of clashes, between local armed men, linked to the conflict in neighboring Syria.

The army implemented in April a security plan aimed at cracking down on the gunmen.
