REPORT: Judge el-Zein postpones hearing of the Fajr al-Islam Brigade leader Imad Jomaa
Military Investigative Judge Imad El Zein postponed on Tuesday the hearing of the Fajr al-Islam Brigade leader Imad Ahmad Jomaa to allow his lawyer to file preliminary motions challenging the accusations against him.

Earlier, Jomaa arrived to the military court in Beirut amid tight security measures undertaken by the security apparatuses.

On Thursday (August 14), the State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr filed a complaint against 43 Syrians, 10 of whom, including Imad Jomaa, were detained.

The Syrian nationals were accused of belonging to armed terrorist organizations, carrying out terrorist attacks and attempting to control Lebanese regions in a bid to establish their "emirate".

They were also charged with the killing of soldiers and civilians and the attempted murder of other troops.

At least 30 ISF and LAF soldiers remain missing and reportedly kidnapped by the Islamic State and al-Nusra Front militants, in the wake of deadly clashes that erupted in the northeastern border town of Arsal on August 01.

Clashes flared up when Syrian gunmen deployed across the region after the Lebanese Armed Forces arrested Imad Jomaa at a checkpoint.
The clashes left at least 20 soldiers dead and 86 injured.

On Thursday (August 07), a military source stated that a truce in Arsal appeared to be holding and the situation in the border town was quiet.

Lebanese security officials say the fighters include members of al Qaeda's Syria branch, the Nusra Front, and an al Qaeda splinter group, the Islamic State, which has seized swathes of land in Syria and Iraq.
