REPORT: Hundreds of citizens flock to the Monastery of Saint Maroun in Annaya

Hundreds of people headed on Thursday to the Monastery of Saint Maroun in Annaya where the shrine of Saint Charbel is located to celebrate the 22nd anniversary for the miraculous healing of citizen Nouhade Shami.

Citizens from various Lebanese regions flocked to Saint Charbel’s hermitage and tomb in order to celebrate the Divine Liturgy.

The miraculous healing of Shami allegedly came about on the 22nd of January 1993, whereby she was "operated on during her sleep by Saint Charbel and eventually healed after a stroke had left her completely paralyzed."

Since 1993, on the 22nd of every month, Mrs. Shami visits Saint Charbel’s hermitage, and alongside other pilgrims, walks from there to the monastery to celebrate the Divine Liturgy.
