The Lebanese Armed Forces Intelligence forces arrested the number one fugitive in the Bakaa, Maher Tleis.
In a raid implemented by the intelligence forces with the support of the army in Brital at dawn on Saturday, Tleis was arrested at his house.
He is wanted for a long criminal record, with charges including forming gangs to steak vehicles, drug dealing, kidnapping and robberies. He has more and 400 arrest warrants issued against him as well as 189 verdicts and Interpol warrants.
His name was linked to several kidnapping for ransom crimes in the Bekaa. He was also connected to a sale of vehicles to a group of Syrian nationals in the eastern mountainous regions, these vehicles were later used in car bomb attacks and suicide bombings across Lebanese regions.
Maher Tleis was recently spotted walking across the town of Brital and participating in social events, but his arrest had failed several times, due to his prior knowledge of the raid.
