Iranian Foreign Affairs Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian stressed on Friday that Iran will always stand beside Lebanon.

Amirabdollahian’s comments were made during his visit to Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in the presence of the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic in Beirut Muhammad Jalal Ferozania, whereby he discussed the latest political developments in Lebanon and the region.

For his part, Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that “the Islamic Republic of Iran stood and is still standing next to Lebanon during the past decades,” adding that “Iran has proved to be a sincere and loyal ally no matter how difficult circumstances get.”

The Iranian minister then met with the Vice Head of the Islamic Supreme Shiite Council Sheikh Ali Al Khatib and Grand Mufti Jaafari Sheikh Ahmad Qabalan.

For his part, Sheikh Ali Al Khatib pointed out that “Iran is a key partner in defeating terrorism in the region, and is working to enhance joint cooperation with Lebanon as it offered help to get Lebanon out of its crises."

Later in the day, Amirabdollahian emphasized during a press conference at the Embassy of Iran in Lebanon “his country’s willingness to help build two power plants in Lebanon.”

He also stressed that “Iran will keep on supplying Lebanon with fuel,” adding that “Iran is ready to put its capabilities through either Lebanese investments, Iranian ones or joint between both of them in order to build two power plants.

On another note, the Iranian envoy underlined that “Saudi-Iranian dialogue is on the right track.”
