REPORT: Follow-up of the wood-cutting case in Kfardebian

LBCI followed up the case of illegal wood-cutting in Kfardebian’s forests.

In this context, the Ministry of Agriculture commissioned a delegation that visited the site to check if there was a violation of the wood-cutting license.

Agriculture Minister Hussein El-Hajj Hassan thanked LBCI for tackling this subject, stressing that he has contacted Kfardebian’s Mayor Jean Akiki and asked him to visit the site.

The minister added that the necessary measures will be taken against the violator, stressing that the forest guards will also be held accountable if the investigations proved that they failed to fulfill their duties.

Kfardebian Municipality will also ask its police members to control the violations.

For his part, Samah Makarem, the person accused of the violations, emphasized that the wood-cutting he is conducting is in conformity with the laws.
