REPORT: Prayers in Las Vegas in honor of late Patriarch Hazim's soul

The Orthodox community in Las Vegas bade farewell to the late Patriarch Ignatius IV Hazim of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East in a mass held in Saint Michael's church.              

Families that participated in the mass with Father Jean Nicolas expressed their concern regarding electing a new Patriarch for the orthodox Church capable of continuing Patriarch Hazim's message especially in terms of protecting Christians in Syria.                    

It is worth mentioning that since the start of the clashes in Syria, several families left Syria to Las Vegas for shelter.              

Members of these families expressed their apprehension regarding their country.                              

Syrian-American citizens reproach the Western and Arab world seemingly since their interference did not prevent fighting between Syrian groups; but instead, supplied these groups with weapons and money to continue fighting.
