Energy Minister Gebran Bassil submitted during the last cabinet session his proposal for the allocations of the Petroleum Administration Committee’ members.

The proposal came as follows:
  • Basic salary: LBP 22,000,000
  • Housing allowance: LBP 3,000,000
  • 1/6 of the monthly allocations as a compensation for solely working on the fuel file during the specified period
  • In total, each member in the Petroleum Administration Committee will be receiving every month a LBP 33,000,000 ($22,000) salary.

These allocations are similar to those granted to the Financial Markets Authority's members.

Their allowances are divided as follows:
  • Basic salary: LBP 26,000,000 (16 salaries per year)
  • 10% of the basic salary as representation fees, plus transportation allowance and compensations
  • Total salary per month: LBP 33,000,000
  • Plus, education allowance for each child of the authority's members: LBP 6,000,000 for school students and  LBP 10,000,000 for university students.

Such is the case also of the Banking Control Commission's members. Their allocations are as follows:
  • Basic salary: LBP 12,000,000 (16 salaries per year)
  • Transportation allowance, representation fees and compensations
  • Total salary per month: LBP 33,000,000

The members of the commission profit as well from the opportunity to borrow from banks 8 times the amount of their salaries with an interest of 2%-4%. They also receive $ 1100 for each day of work outside Lebanon.
