Motorists driving through an Arab Gulf country could not believe their eyes when it started raining money in the middle of the city.
According to the Daily Mail, thousands of 500 UAE Dirham notes - worth around USD 136 - flew through the oil-rich city of Dubai on a busy afternoon, and officials have yet to give a clarification as to why, or disclose a source of the cash. The National, a UAE based daily however said the occurrence happened in Kuwait, not Dubai. Nonetheless, drivers left their cars in order to catch the notes blowing down the road, and were filmed holding the notes. It is estimated that notes valued between two and three million Dirham were loose - meaning up to USD 772,050. The mysterious incident took place at around 3pm on February 11 and locals have no explanation. Police later rushed to the area and ushered people away, local media said.
