Firefighters rescue man trapped behind walls in NY-[PHOTOS]

Firefighters responded to calls from employees of Landmark Theater in New York after they heard a man trapped inside walls as he was banging on them and yelling for help.

In the details, Chief Executive Officer Mike Intagliata said that “the man entered the building last Tuesday, immediately bypassed the staff, and went upstairs… The staff searched for him but did not find him and assumed he had left.”

The police believe that he was hiding somewhere in the building, and ended up hanging for two days naked. Police said the man appeared to be suffering from mental illness and would not be charged or identified.

It took a lot of work to determine his exact location and how to best extricate him. Firefighters were then able to free the individual after carefully cutting through several layers of drywall and structural clay tile.

He was then treated and transported to Upstate University Hospital.
