MMFD alternative political party sees mass resignation
Many Lebanese were shocked by the wave of abrupt resignations from the Mouwatinoun wa Mouwatinat fi Dawla party (MMFD).

Among those who submitted their resignations from the party were well-known figures, some of whom were nominated by the party for the previous parliamentary elections.

Questions about the reasons for these resignations and what is actually going on within the party led by Charbel Nahhas quickly spread on social media.

Up until Tuesday, "MMFD" served as a model for all ruling parties and broke from the norms of the majority of Lebanese parties. "MMFD" set itself apart by rejecting the sectarian division practiced by the majority, adopting democracy within its ranks, and putting forth a plan for a civil state.

There is no doubt that this party stands out most for its economic vision, particularly in light of the 2019 revolution, the traditional Lebanese parties' failure to exit the country's financial crisis, and their reduced ability to adapt to its new realities.

However, based on what is being said on social media platforms, it appears that "MMFD's" reputation did not last very long.

According to the activists, the party's internal system change was one of the reasons for their resignation.

It was possible for its Secretary-General to nominate himself multiple times for the General Secretariat.

The resigning members had objected Nahhas' ability to continue serving as the party's Secretary General indefinitely.

Members of "MMFD" had to deal with the fact that the party started to stray from the ideals upon which it was founded and was moving toward becoming more like the ruling parties.

According to what was stated in the tweets of many on social media platforms, those who resigned and those who remained in the party still agree on the principles on which it was founded. Some chose to leave the party, while others decided to try to change from within.
