Sources told An-Nahar daily on Tuesday that figures among the Future Movement headed yesterday towards the kingdom of Saudi Arabia in a bid to hold consultations with Future Movement leader Saad Hariri.
The delegation included Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi as well as MPs Samir el-Jisr and Mohammad Kabbara.
Talks are featuring high on the situation in Lebanon's northern city of Tripoli in light of the latest developments, the same sources said.
On Monday, sources also told the daily that Future bloc leader MP Fouad Siniora, Interior Minister Nouhad Mashnouq and Future Movement adviser Nader Hariri had traveled to Jeddah to meet with former Prime Minister Saad Hariri.
Parliamentary sources at the March 8 coalition said the fate of the upcoming legislative session remains unclear, noting that they are awaiting the stance of the Future Movement in this regard.
"An agreement over the legislative session is expected to be reached soon," the sources said.
Asked about the potential extension of the Parliament's mandate during the legislative session, the same sources told Al-Akhbar newspaper that this issue has not been tackled.
"No one has dared to suggest this matter despite the fact that most of the political forces want to extend the Parliament's term," they added.
A top leader of the al-Qaeda-linked Jabhat al-Nusra was killed on Sunday in battles between Hezbollah and the militant group in Qalamoun's barren range.
Well-informed sources told Al-Akhbar newspaper on Tuesday that Ahmad Omar Yakzan was killed in armed clashes on the outskirts of the eastern mountain range.
The sources also confirmed that Yakzan's body was taken to the field hospital of Arsal, noting that the militant is reportedly a relative of Abou Hassan al-Felastini who was behind the execution of citizen Mustafa Ezzeddine in Arsal.
National Struggle Front leader MP Walid Jumblatt stressed on Tuesday the need to safeguard Lebanon, calling on all officials to prioritize national interest by making concessions.
In an interview with As-Safir daily, Jumblatt also urged them to elect a consensual president who is capable of managing the current crisis.
"There is no problem in withdrawing the candidacy of MP Henry Helou if other candidates also withdraw from the presidential race, paving the way for a settlement to end the current power vacuum," Jumblatt added.
