PM Salam says presidential vacuum is having negative impacts on the country

Prime Minister Tammam Salam told al-Mustaqbal newspaper on Sunday that the presidential vacuum is having a negative impact on the country.

Salam reiterated that he will deploy efforts in the coming year to reactivate the work of the government in order to solve the Lebanese people’s daily issues.

As for the Saudi grant for the Lebanese army, Salam concluded by stressing that he wants to arm the military institution "as soon as possible" in order to face terrorism.

Geagea, Aoun may hold a meeting next week-sources

Sources told An-Nahar newspaper on Sunday that the first week of the coming year may witness a meeting between Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea and Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun.

The same sources added that contacts are currently ongoing to find a common ground between Aoun and Geagea, adding that both officials may tackle the presidential elections and other files.

French envoy Giroux to start his tour in Tehran-sources

Sources told Acharq al-Awsat newspaper on Sunday that the director of the Middle East department in the French Foreign Ministry Jean-François Giroux will start his tour in Tehran.

The same sources added that Giroux will be also paying a visit to Saudi Arabia.
