Sources told An-Nahar newspaper on Saturday that some Lebanese officials received phone calls from French and US diplomats to find out the stance of the Lebanese government following Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s speech on Friday.
The same sources added that the moderate stance issued by Prime Minister Tammam Salam “was supposed” to be met by a similar moderate stance from Nasrallah, noting that Friday’s speech escalated further the situation in the country.
Future bloc MP Khaled Daher told As-Seyassah newspaper on Saturday that the confrontations between Israel and Hezbollah ended.
Daher added that Hezbollah will not carry out further attacks, noting that any similar attack will have "unexpected results."
According to the daily, Daher said that Iran does not want further escalation in South Lebanon due to the latest rapprochement with the Western powers over its nuclear file.
Future bloc MP Ahmad Fatfat told al-Joumhouria newspaper on Saturday that Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nassrallah does not consider that the Lebanese state has the right to have the peace and war decision.
“Nasrallah declared in his speech that Hezbollah is above the Lebanese state,” Fatfat added.
According to the daily, Fatfat noted that Hezbollah does not care about the interests of the Lebanese people and the country, adding that he is only “implementing the Iranian agenda in the region.”
Deputy Speaker Farid Makari told An-Nahar newspaper on Saturday that Friday’s speech of Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah linked Lebanon to the regional crisis.
“Instead of dissociating Lebanon from the regional crisis, Nasrallah came and dragged the country into further tensions and crisis,” Makari added.
According to the daily, Makari concluded by reiterating that Nasrallah’s speech will Lebanon’s stability.
