Al-Akhbar newspaper quoted well-informed sources on Monday as saying that a decision to deport foreigners from the United Arab Emirates will include 120 Lebanese nationals in the next few weeks.
A number of soon-to-be-deported Lebanese citizens told the daily that the deadline set for their departure is “too short”.
In the same regard, Lebanese diplomatic sources told Al-Mustaqbal newspaper that the number of nationals ordered to leave the UAE exceeds 90, according to preliminary information.
Sources told Al-Joumhouria newspaper on Monday that a meeting is set to be held today, at the Grand Serail, between Prime Minister Tammam Salam and Kataeb ministers.
Talks will feature high on a number of ministerial affairs and the means to uphold coordination between PM Salam and the party’s bloc.
The meeting is the first of its kind after the cabinet’s work returned to normal, and goes in line with understandings reached during two meetings held by Salam, the first being with Kataeb party leader Amine Gemayel and the second with Kataeb MP Sami Gemayel.
An-Nahar newspaper quoted sources on Monday as saying that the latest statements of Future Movement leader MP Saad Hariri and speeches delivered by officials on the 10th anniversary of the March 14 coalition, triggered a response from Hezbollah figures.
“Thus, the dialogue that is currently being held between Hezbollah and the Future Movement is, for the first time, at stake, based on the stances of Hezbollah Executive Council head Sayyed Hashem Safieddine and Loyalty to the Resistance bloc head MP Mohammad Raad,” the sources said.
“The eighth dialogue session due to be held Wednesday in Ain El-Tineh is at stake,” the same sources added.
March 14 Secretary General Fares Souaid said on Monday he was surprised by Hezbollah’s “criticism and prior objection” to the establishment of his camp’s national council.
In an interview with Al-Joumhouria newspaper, Souaid said the council aims to unite all the Lebanese people, Christians and Muslims alike, adding that “the consolidation of Lebanon’s civil peace is everyone's responsibility, mainly that of Hezbollah”.
