Al-Joumhouria newspaper reported on Wednesday that US Ambassador to Lebanon David Hale, who was expected to arrive to Lebanon before yesterday, postponed his return until next week.
In this regard, the newspaper noted that Ambassador Hale is discussing various Lebanese dossiers with White House and Pentagon officials.
An-Nahar newspaper stated on Wednesday that a spiritual summit will be held on Monday in Bkerke and will be the beginning of new measures implemented by the Maronite Patriarchate to pave the way for the election of a new president.
The newspaper emphasized that participants will deliver a message to concerned officials urging them to work for the benefit of all Lebanese citizens, and to restore dialogue sessions intended at easing tension and rejecting any foreign intervention in Lebanese affairs.
House Speaker Nabih Berri stated on Wednesday that the testimony of former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora before the Special Tribunal for Lebanon will not have any negative influence on dialogue sessions between the Future Movement and Hezbollah.
In this regard, Speaker Berri told Al-Joumhouria newspaper that these dialogue sessions are continuous and steadfast until officials from both parties reach the desired results.
Head of the Kataeb Party Amine Gemayel stated on Wednesday that Lebanon has not yet become a fostering environment for takfiri movements.
Gemayel told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that Christian factions in Lebanon did not cause vacuum at the presidency, emphasizing that void is directly linked to Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun’s adherence to his candidacy.
On another note, Gemayel said that the current regional conflicts are related to Iran’s influence in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen.
