Khatibzadeh: Iranian-Lebanese relations stronger than external pressures
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Monday that Iran can help Lebanon build power stations, provided there would be a will from the Lebanese government and political parties.

Khatibzadeh’s comments were made while answering a question asked by a reporter of Alalam News Network on Iran’s readiness to provide assistance to solve the electricity crisis in Lebanon.

“Electricity is one of the main problems that Lebanon is suffering from,” he added.

Khatibzadeh explained that one of the ways used in Lebanon to provide electricity is through power stations that are temporarily located in ports and on board of ships.

“One of the ways to solve this problem is to build ground power stations inside Lebanon,” he added.

Khatibzadeh stressed that Iran can help with its technical capabilities, adding however that Tehran’s readiness must be accompanied by a will from the Lebanese government and parties.

He also noted that Iranian-Lebanese relations are stronger than external pressures and will not happen according to the third party's desire, adding that Iran and Lebanon’s will is to expand their relations and talks and aims to pursue projects regardless of the pressures and the embargo imposed on the two countries.
