How To Back Up Your Facebook Personal Data In Case Of Hack

Facebook- the world's most popular social network- crashed on Monday and posted an error message, leaving millions of users without access to their personal data.

The social network, which claims to have 1.23bn monthly users, displayed a message (Sorry, something went wrong) to users who were trying to log on to their accounts.

Facebook users feared they lost priceless data after the social networking site was down. At around 6.30am GMT, people attempting to log on could not access their account for about 45 minutes.

Details as to what went wrong are yet to be released - but luckily there are ways you can back up your personal data, wall posts, messages, photos, videos and contact details if the problem ever occurs again.

Firstly you have to log in to your Facebook account, click the arrow button in the top right of the page and select settings, then click Download a copy of your Facebook data.

Thus, it will take you to the Download your information page where you must select Start My Archive.

A pop up will display on the screen titled Request My Download and the message: "It may take a little while for us to gather your photos, wall posts, messages and other information.

"We will then ask you to verify your identity in order to help protect the security of your account."

Then click Start My Archive where you need to reenter your password before downloading a Zip file which contains all of your photos, wall posts, messages and videos.

The file will be stored on your computer device but later on, you can back this up through cloud storage, on a CD or on a memory USB stick.
