Man kills daughter, eats her flesh in Papua New Guinea

A man described as a ‘vampire’ in Papua New Guinea was arrested on charges of murdering his three-year-old daughter by biting her neck, eating her flesh and drinking her blood, AFP cited a report on Friday.

According to sources from the area’s police dubbed the incident that took place on Wednesday as “an act of cannibalism.”

The PNG Post Courier quoted local councilor John Kenny as saying that the child and her mother were visiting the father, when the latter grabbed the girl and ran off into nearby bushes where he bit her neck, ate the flesh and drank the blood.

During the crime, two boys who were climbing a coconut tree nearby saw him and ran quickly to raise the alarm and call for help.

When people arrived to the scene, the man reportedly dumped the body in the bushes and attempted to escape before being caught and turned over to police.

Papua New Guinea is a nation where reports of black magic, sorcery and cannibalism often emerge.

Last year police arrested dozens of people linked to an alleged cannibal cult accused of killing at least seven people, eating their brains raw and making soup from their penises.

There have been several other recent cases linked to cults, sorcery and cannibalism, with a man in 2011 reportedly found eating his screaming, newborn son during a sorcery initiation ceremony.
