Twitter on the verge of launching breaking news service to its followers

The social media network Twitter seems to have launched an experimental account to send news updates to its followers.           

Knowing that the company does not publicly disclose such information, it was not possible to verify if the mentioned account is an official twitter trial, but all of the account's followers were Twitter employees.                    

The profile, @EventParrot, currently reads: “This is a Twitter experiment. Follow me to receive direct messages that help you keep up with what's happening in the world.”               

The account sends users who follow it direct messages about international and national breaking news stories.                       

Technology website “AllThingsD” considered that twitter will move from contacting users via direct messages and will find a more effective and mainstream way to send news updates.      

As for the popularity of this account, it seems promising; the number of tweeters following it rose from around 2,500 to almost 9,000 in seven hours.
