Salihi slams attack on British embassy

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salihi slammed on Sunday the Iranian students’ raid on the British Embassy, adding that it was an unfortunate event.

During a joint press conference with his Namibian counterpart Utoni Nujoma, Salihi added that the incident was unexpected.

Salihi made it clear that Iranian police were not aware of such lawless action by the attackers on the Embassy, adding that the protesters had been authorized to condemn the UK for unilateral sanctions, but, all of a sudden, they got out of police control.

Hard-line Iranian students stormed British diplomatic sites in Tehran on November 29, bringing down the Union Jack flag, burning an embassy vehicle and throwing documents from windows in scenes reminiscent of the seizing of the U.S. Embassy compound in 1979.
