24 killed in clashes in eastern Syrian city of Abu Kamal

Members from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant advanced on Thursday towards the city of Abu Kamal in eastern Syria, in a bid to take control of the town and its border crossing with Iraq, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.

The Observatory stated that ISIL members controlled various neighborhoods in the city, and mentioned that at least 24 persons were killed in clashes between ISIL members and other from the Al-Nusra Front.
