A Saudi woman poured boiling water over her Filipino maid as a punishment for not making coffee quick enough, and abstained from admitting her to the hospital for another five hours, ABS-CBN News reported.

According to the news report, the 23-year-old maid, who suffered from burns to her back and legs, was beaten by her employer and deprived of food and is now in the care of the Philippine Embassy.

The maid’s cousin, who came to help her, after she has been contacted from the hospital, was outraged towards the way her cousin was treated and shared photos on Facebook showing the injuries of Fatma, which is not her real name.

“This is my cousin, who works as domestic helper in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; her female Saudi employer poured boiling water on her. She has only been in Riyadh for two months. She was beaten up within five days of her arrival by her male employer and was sometimes deprived of food,” the Facebook post read.
