Syrian state television broadcast footage of the meeting, with the North Korean delegation headed by Minister of Foreign Trade Ri Ryong Nam.
Syrian News Agency SANA reported that Assad said Syria and North Korea had much in common, since both nations refuse to bow to pressure, reject subordination and favor independence and sovereignty.
Minister Ri said North Korea would continue to support the Syrian government in the face of what he described as an unjust war, SANA reported.
