Russia's Lavrov concerned about Ukraine military action - Interfax
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed his concern on Saturday (June 21), during a visit to Saudi Arabia, over Ukraine's military action after Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko ordered a ceasefire as part of his plan to end the rebel insurgency in the country's east, according to Russian news agency Interfax.

Lavrov held talks with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal on Saturday to discuss topics likely to include the violence in Syria and Iraq.

The Russian Foreign Minister also commented on the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, reported Interfax.

Poroshenko ordered a seven-day ceasefire on Friday (June 20) in the fight against pro-Russian separatists.

He also warned them they could face death if they do not use time to put down their guns

Interfax quoted Lavrov as describing the recent developments as "disturbing" and saying it raises questions "that, simultaneously with the ceasefire announcement ... the so-called anti-terrorist operation is increasing."

The Kremlin on Friday denounced the ceasefire as an ultimatum rather than a peace offering.
