Woman reportedly beheaded in back garden of London home
A woman is believed to have been decapitated in the back garden of a north London house.

The victim was found on Thursday at an address in Nightingale Road, Edmonton, at about 13:00 BST, police said in a statement.

"On arrival, officers discovered a female collapsed in a garden area," the Met Police said. In this regard, a man was detained and is currently in custody.

Detectives noted that there is no suggestion that the killing had any terrorist motive.

In turn, London Ambulance Service said they sent resources to the scene including London's Air Ambulance, an ambulance crew and a duty manager.

"Sadly a woman was found dead at the scene," they added in a statement.

The BBC's Home Affairs Correspondent Danny Shaw said it is unknown at this stage whether the suspect and the victim knew each other.

Shaw also said there were unconfirmed reports on social media the man was wielding a machete.

Scotland Yard's Homicide Command is investigating the case.
