The Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani met Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Teheran on Thursday night to discuss the latest regional developments.
Qatar News Agency (QNA) said that during the meeting, the two leaders addressed the means to improve and develop bilateral relations and, looked into a number of regional and international issues of interest to both parties.
With regards to Syria, the Emir of Qatar said that his country made several attempts to encourage the Syrian regime to take tangible reform measures, adding that the security solution turned out to be a failure.
Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani said that the Syrians will not back down on their demands considering the high price they have already paid.
The Emir of Qatar voiced hope that the Syrian decision-makers will realize the importance of change and catering to their people’s needs.
Sheikh Hamad arrived in Teheran Thursday night on a short business trip to Iran.
