Morsi’s tribute to the Syrian people lost in translation
The Egyptian President’s tribute to the people of Syria during the Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Tehran was turned into a tribute to the Bahraini people following a mistake committed by the interpreter working for the Iranian TV.

When Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi paid tribute to the peoples of Syria and Palestine, millions of Iranians watching the event on TV or listening on the radio were told Morsi was actually saluting the peoples of Bahrain and Palestine.

It turned out later that the translation mistake was intentional as the interpreter swapped “Syria” for “Bahrain” for a second time during the Egyptian President’s speech.
