US, KSA and Russia condemn the anti-Muslim film

"The U.S. government had nothing to do with a controversial Internet video about the Prophet Mohammad that triggered anti-American protests in Egypt, Libya and Yemen, U.S.", Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Thursday.   

"The United States government had absolutely nothing to do with this video. We absolutely reject its content and message," she said at the start of talks with senior Moroccan officials.

"To us, to me personally, this video is disgusting and reprehensible. It appears to have a deeply cynical purpose: to denigrate a great religion and to provoke rage."

In this context, Saudi Arabia condemned on Thursday the film which Muslims consider blasphemous to Islam and denounced the violent anti-American protests in some Middle East countries.   

"Saudi Arabia has expressed... its condolences to the United States of America for the victims of violent actions in Libya that targeted the American consulate in Benghazi," state news agency SPA reported citing a senior official.   

The kingdom also denounced what it called an "irresponsible" group which produced the film deemed insulting to the Prophet Mohammad and condemned "the violent reactions that occurred in a number of countries against American interests."

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday also condemned the attack that killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and called on new leaders in Arab nations on Thursday to recognize their responsibility for the situation on their territories.   

"I would like to address the leadership of the new governments in which serious changes have taken place, they should also not forget about their own responsibility for what happens on their territory," Putin said in televised comments in the southern city of Sochi.

Putin also warned of an "impeding chaos" in the region after the attack on the American Consulate in Benghazi.
