At least 10 killed in a roadside bomb southern Afghanistan

At least 10 Afghan civilians, including 1 woman and 8 children, were killed when a homemade bomb exploded in Uruzgan province southern Afghanistan.

District governor Nematullah Khaliqi told AFP that the families were on their way to visit a relative who had recently returned from Mecca.

Earlier this month, 17 civilians, mostly women and children, were killed in a roadside bomb on their way to a wedding ceremony in western Afghanistan.

According to UN figures, 30% of roadside bombs' victims in Afghanistan are women and children.
