Introduction to the evening news 13-12-2012

For the first time, Russia agrees with the NATO and the Syrian opposition on one position: the collapse of the Syrian regime is approaching. This common stance acquires great importance, especially after Damascus battle began and following the international recognition of the Syrian National Coalition as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people.

Although the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov declared that the Syrian regime is "increasingly" losing control over the country, the position which clearly showed the shift in position was declared by the head of the National Coalition Mouaz al-Khatib who said that the Syrian people no longer needs a foreign intervention to topple the Syrian President Bashar Assad with the progress recorded by the Syrian rebels by entering central Damascus.

These rapid developments marking the Syrian crisis coincide with a crucial event in the Egyptian revolution. In this context, a new demonstration was staged by the Egyptian opposition at the Tahrir Square, as well as rallies to the Presidential Palace on the last day before the constitutional referendum takes place.
