After being gang-raped, Indian passenger found hanging from tree
      
A woman was found on Monday hanging from a tree after being gang-raped in a train in Bhagalpur district, East India.             

The Times of India newspaper reported that the 32-year-old victim was dragged to a mango orchard and gang-raped by unidentified persons after she alighted from the train between Vikramshila and Kahalgaon stations.                       

Police officers added that liquor bottles were found at the spot.                                 

This case is similar to that of the 23-year-old medical student who was severely beaten, raped and thrown out of a moving bus in New Delhi on the 16th of December 2012.                      

The 23-year-old victim whose assault in New Delhi triggered nationwide protests died in hospital on the 29th of December of injuries suffered in the attack.             

India's New Delhi has the highest number of sex crimes among India's major cities, with a rape reported on average every 18 hours, according to police figures.
