Iraqi forces detain 350 leading members of former Baath Party

An Iraqi security official said on Monday that “350 leading members of the former Baath Party have been detained on charges of promoting the party and reorganizing its ranks in a bid to destabilize the country.”

The Iraqi constitution blocked the return of the Baath Party to political life after the fall of the previous regime in 2003 and the formation of the Accountability and Justice Commission.
