Israel about to lose German sub deal

Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported on Wednesday that German Chancellor Angela Merkel is reconsidering the decision to sell Israel a sixth Dolphin submarine.

According to the newspaper, the move was driven by Merkel’s frustration over the new settlements approved in east Jerusalem.

The Israeli newspaper said that another cause behind such a decision was the tensions between Merkel and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israel owns three German-built submarines and two others are still under construction.
