Anti and pro- Assad protesters take to the street

Demonstrations continued on Wednesday in different Syrian cities calling for toppling the Assad regime. The Syrian Human Rights Observatory said that nine soldiers, including one officer, died sustaining injuries after the bus carrying them was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade fired by armed groups believed to be dissidents in northern Homes.  

AFP reported that four civilians, including a little girl, were killed in several other regions. While the Syrian opposition staged a strike in a number of regions to protest against the visit of the Arab ministerial delegation, Assad loyalist took to the street. Thousands of pro-Assad protesters gathered in Al- Umawiyeen Square in downtown Damascus chanting pro-regime tunes and condemning pressures exerted against it.  

Haska also witnessed the same setting. Demonstrations were staged by Assad loyalists to declare their refusal of any foreign interference in Syria’s affairs and their appreciation of the stances taken by Russia and China.

On the international front, French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe told France Inter radio station that the Syrian regime will eventually succumb to demonstrations and international sanctions. Juppe added that the downfall of the Assad regime will take some time because of the possibility that a civil war might erupt.
