Up to 20 Dutch schools close for fear of mass shooting
            
Up to 20 schools in the Dutch city of Leiden were advised to remain closed Monday after receiving threats of a mass shooting.         

The threat, which according to reports was announced via a website, outlines a plot to target schools and teachers in the city without specifying the schools or locations.         

Police advised all secondary schools and vocational schools in the university city to stay closed for the day, as a result.            

Leiden Mayor Henri Lenferink told Dutch broadcaster NOS: "It could just be a morbid joke but we don't want to take any risk."              

However, many questioned the police decision to close the schools, which affects thousands of students.            

Leiden lies some 20km (13 miles) north-east of The Hague, and is home to the country's oldest university.
