China signs deal to buy 60 Airbus planes

China on Thursday signed a deal with Airbus to purchase 60 planes, as French President Francois Hollande began a two-day visit to China.                      

A large entourage of French businessmen is accompanying Hollande, who is the first leader of a major western country to visit China since President Xi Jinping was named to his post last month.              

No details of the purchase were immediately available.

Earlier, French President Francois Hollande arrived in Beijing to boost bilateral ties after the new Chinese leadership took office.        
     
The two sides will exchange views on China-France ties, China-EU relations, as well as international and regional issues of common concern, Chinese Foreign Ministry said before Hollande's visit.         

Hollande will also pay a visit to Shanghai, China's economic hub.
