China's Middle East envoy: situation in Syria is dangerous, cannot continue

China's Middle East envoy Wu Sike warned the Syrian authorities during his visit to Damascus that the “crackdown on protests cannot continue.”

China’s Middle East envoy added that he affirmed to high-ranking Syrian officials the danger of the situation and that it cannot continue, adding that Syrian President Bashar Assad should respect and respond to the aspirations and legitimate demands of the Syrians.

Sike called for halting violence and spearheading reform through dialogue and other peaceful means.
