MI5 issues Chinese spying 'alert' to UK MPs: Minister

Britain's domestic intelligence agency MI5 has issued an "espionage alert" warning MPs that China was trying to recruit parliamentarians through spies disguised as headhunters, security minister Dan Jarvis said Tuesday.

"Earlier today, MI5 issued an espionage alert" to parliament and parliamentary staff "to warn them about ongoing targeting of our democratic institutions by Chinese actors", Jarvis said in a statement at the House of Commons.
