King Charles state visit to US 'will proceed as planned': Buckingham Palace

The state visit by King Charles III and Queen Camilla to the U.S. will take place as planned, the palace said on Sunday, following a shooting at a Washington media gala attended by President Donald Trump.

"Following discussions on both sides of the Atlantic through the day, and acting on advice of Government, we can confirm the State Visit by Their Majesties will proceed as planned," Buckingham Palace said in a statement.

During the four-day state visit -- organised to honour the historic relationship between Britain and the U.S. as America marks 250 years of independence -- Charles and Camilla are due to visit Washington and New York.
