Yemeni tribesmen blow up oil pipeline

Yemeni tribal sources reported on Thursday that tribesmen attacked a key pipeline.

The attack was carried out at dawn and took place in the Sarwah region between Sanaa and Marib.

Sources added that oil flow has completely stopped from the pipeline linking the Safer oil fields to the Red Sea port of Hodeida.

The pipeline has been repeatedly attacked by saboteurs, the last one being on May 24.

The Yemeni army launched last December an offensive against tribesmen on suspicion of being involved in these attacks.

In this context, Electricity Minister Saleh Sumai accused supporters of former president Ali Abdullah Saleh, who was forced to step down early last year of being behind the acts of vadalism.
